Food of two worlds at the Marriott in October
|
In commemoration of the 517 anniversary of the Discovery of the Americas the Marriott Casa Magna in Vallarta will be featuring menus with the theme “The Encounter of two Worlds” at their restaurants “La Estancia” and “Las Casitas” throughout October 2009.
The menus will include famous Mexican Pre-Hispanic delicacies such as mole poblano, cuitlacoche, “a la talla” fish, as well as freshly made tortillas and traditional desserts.
Josefina Naya, Marriott Puerto Vallarta Public Relations Director wants everybody to have a chance to enjoy all they are doing to celebrate a time when the world rewarded travelers with new unforeseen horizons to discover. This time Román Azuara, PR of Food & Beverages gave us a sample of what October brings at the Marriott.
First he introduced us to award-winning bartender Arturo Altamirano at “Las Casitas”. Arturo offered us ten types of martinis of his creation at sunset; the multicolored drinks with the backdrop of the beach, the ocean and the mountains at the other side of the bay were quite a welcoming treat! For these celebrations they have prepared a Martini-Menu at 2x1 for all.
Then we were greeted by Executive Chef Fred Ruiz, owner of an impressive curriculum, mostly in Chicago, New York and Los Angeles, he heads a group of forty-five Marriott’s chefs throughout Mexico and Latin America and has twice won the Culinary Chef Awards. Fred was born in Chapala, in the outskirts of Guadalajara, our capital city, though his brilliant career took off in the US.
We had a delightful dinner at “La Estancia” this had always been a beautiful restaurant, but this time it rose to a different level, the colors, the furniture and the space!
I needed to walk around to better feel its new ambiance, there were two adjoining, very well appointed, private dining rooms; but nearing the entrance there was a third one, with a glass-encased, world-class wine cellar as its background. Audrey, the cellar’s Marseillaise keeper kindly invited me in and showed me how the wines were placed. I was somewhat skeptical when I asked her where the Mexican wines were located; she immediately pointed to the area and I could hardly believe what I saw: there it was, my own Tinto Jalá 2005, my baby, Cabernet Sauvignon-Grenache Noir, the red wine I brought from the Valle de Guadalupe in Ensenada, Baja California. You can enjoy it too at the Marriott Casa Magna in Puerto Vallarta, especially with the flavors of the “Encounter of Two Worlds”. Email to a friend
