Litibu Riviera Nayarit

• FONATUR has invested a total of $721,437,519.66 Million pesos in Litibú.
• All the lots in the Litibú Hotel Project have been sold.
• Its infrastructure, operating at 100% efficiency, includes a desalination plant,
a wastewater treatment plant and a golf course designed by Greg Norman.

Bahía de Banderas, Nay., February 27, 2010.- With the construction of the Litibú Tourism Development through the National Fund for Tourism Development (FONATUR), the Federal Government invested $721,437,519.56 Million pesos to provide infrastructure and services in this site that will house a million tourists annually - 60% foreign and 40% nationals - by 2025, according to Alejandra Kuri, FONATUR Delegate in this State. Ms. Kuri also pointed out that by the end of the project, the cost of building 3,200 rooms will reach $397 Million pesos, with an estimated foreign exchange earnings of a total of $185 Million pesos, and generate 11,873 direct and indirect jobs.

The Litibú Project fully completed by FONATUR has been so successful that it has sold all the hotel lots. This development has a high quality infrastructure which is already operating at 100%, consisting of: networks for medium voltage electricity, street lighting, potable water distribution, sanitary drainage, storm drainage, as well as the construction of roadways based on stamped concrete, canalized phone system, a PGA-class golf course designed by legendary Greg Norman, covering an area of 68.48 hectares with 18 holes, a waste water treatment plant whose current capacity is 20 liters per second, a desalination plant producing 40% clean drinkable water, and 60% returning to the sea.

Various other social projects have already been undertaken in the nearby support town of Higuera Blanca, including paving of roadways, potable water, and the construction of sanitary services and classrooms, in addition to the construction and expansion of health clinics in support communities in Nayarit.

Kuri Castro also explained in detail that tourism development is 100% urbanized and, in spite of the global crisis, 3 out of 10 private developments have already begun construction, while the remaining contracts are set to start this year. Email to a friend
