Riviera Nayarit, a place of interesting choices
Riviera Nayarit is becoming a place with a growing offer of choices for publics of all tastes, it is a pleasure to see how the area is acquiring an international classy flavor, with artistic, and also popular events.
Last week we had the luck of enjoy first quality chalk street art, brought to us thanks to the organizers of Bucerias Art Walk, we had the privilege of witness the making of paintings by American artist, Lori Escalera and her fellow artists, children and adults benefited from the event, and the locals got the chance to see something I have only seen in places like Florence, Italy, or Los Angeles, California. Wonderful indeed, hopefully we will have more of it.
Featured Chalk Artist Lori Escalera, along with two Los Angeles guest Chalk Artists Lorelle Miller and Julio Jimenez, and a Featured Mexican Artist Tony Collantez, Street Painted 3D and Madonnari style chalk drawings in the streets of Bucerias January 20 - 22.
"It was an incredible event in which to participate. Everyone in the community enjoyed the beautiful works of art as well as made their own contributions to making the event a huge success. I am grateful to be included and everyone seemed to be looking forward to doing this again next year. I hope we will be asked to return," said Escalera
Today I just got an invitation by Collectivo San Pancho to attend free LUCHA LIBRE (wrestling) on February 7th, a popular sport typical of big Cities, I still remember the first time I attended a wrestling match at Arena Mexico, a classic place for wrestling in the heart of Mexico City, an incredible event, attended by families, children, and elder, a very old woman caught my attention, she kept shouting “Matalo” (kill him) and throwing kisses and flowers to her favorite wrestler, it reminded me of a Circus, you might like it or not, but for sure you have to go at least one time, to witness a bit of popular Mexico.
La Cruz de Huanacaxtle is experiencing a wonderful change, all the houses of the main street, Langosta, have been painted in bright colors, I have been living here for 15 years and never thought of La Cruz of pretty looking town, however, with the new paint, all the garbage collection efforts, and the planting of trees and palm trees in the highway that goes to Punta de Mita it is hard to believe that it is the same town, also, the offer of dining places keeps growing, La Cruz Bistro and Grill (Langosta 27, phone 2955874) is adding an international flavor to town, and offering a free drink on Wednesdays, from 6 to 7 pm, to accompany your dinner, a quaint corner of Europe, right in front of La Marina.
We are hoping to have a wonderful end of the season with the upcoming Regatta Copa Mexico, the nautical event of the year.
Copa Mexico is a joint effort of Mexican Government, The Government of Nayarit and the Mexican sailing associations, this year, on its Bicentennial edition, the event will take place in the Coasts of Riviera Nayarit, from the 27th, of February to the 13th, of march, the venue will be Marina Riviera Nayarit at La Cruz, and the participating classes will be Ocean Races Mexorc 2010, J24, Optimist, Windsurf, Kite surf, additional events will take place March 3rd to 7th, and will be a beach soccer tournament with the participation of teams of Mexico, Brazil, USA, and Canada and a feminine beach volleyball tournament with the participation of Mexico, Canada, USA, and Holland. We certainly are looking forward to it.
